Let’s trace what an ounce of gold or silver – true money – has been able to purchase at various periods in history, and how it compares to today.

1979: Gold’s average price that year was $306.68. This bought an average-priced full size bed.

30 years later, $950 would still buy you a full size bed.

1963: A gallon of gasoline in America sold for 31 cents. This meant that 3 silver dimes could buy a gallon of gasoline. The total weight of silver in 3 silver dimes is .217 of an ounce.

Today, 3 silver dimes would buy a gallon of gasoline anywhere in the U.S.

600 AD: In the Middle East, a chicken at the time of Mohammad would cost a family one silver Dirham (3 grams).

Today, 1,400 years later, a chicken in the Middle East would still cost a family one silver Dirham.

Time of Christ: Under the Roman Empire, an ounce of gold purchased a Roman citizen his toga (suit), a leather belt, and a pair of sandals.

400 BC: Some scholars report that during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar, an ounce of gold bought 350 loaves of bread.

Today, an ounce of gold still buys about 350 loaves ($950 divided by 350 = $2.73/loaf).

1000 BC: King Solomon was known to have purchased many horses for his army. Historical records show he bought them in Egypt for 150 shekels of silver each. 150 shekels was about 55 troy ounces of silver.

Today, you can still buy a riding horse for 55 troy ounces of silver ($800).

A New Twist on an Old Saying

Tim Worstall recalls Cato's famous expression "Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam" ("Furthermore it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed"), with which the crusty old Roman ended every speech in the senate. It is sometimes quoted as "Carthago delenda est" ("Carthage must be destroyed"). Carthage was Rome's arch-enemy, and eventually it was destroyed, wiped off the map completely.

Worstall facetiously recommends as a modern equivalent "Ceterum censeo Unionem Europaeam esse delendam" ("Furthermore it is my opinion that the European Union must be destroyed"), or "Unio Europaea delenda est" ("The European Union must be destroyed") for short. Of course, Worstall does not wish Europe itself to be destroyed, only the European Union. Indeed, he sees the destruction of the European Union as a way to save Europe.

A true Marxist

Reading about a totalitarian regime in a history book is interesting. Seeing other countries fall to tyranny is interesting, if sad. Seeing ones own formerly free country fall into tyranny is both terrifying and enraging.

Conversational Latin

A good method to improve ones grasp of Latin is to speak it with others, just as one would with a living language such as German, Italian, French, or Welsh. But Latin presents a special problem. Because it is a "dead" language and most of what a young student reads is in the third person, finding the correct idiom in the first and second person is quite difficult.

To date I have found three excellent resources to help with this problem.

The first is the old Colloquia Latina from Benjamin L. D'Ooge, free online for reading or PDF download here. It has thirty colloquia of increasing difficulty, each a little over one page long, with accompanying grammar hints and test questions. It is perfect for beginning to intermediate students.

The second is John Traupman's Conversational Latin for Oral Proficiency. It has 25 chapters of two-person dialog, each concentrating on one topic such as greetings, trades and professions, animals, geography, dates, and grammar. Each chapter is divided into three sections for beginning, intermediate, and advanced learners. At the end of each chapter are a few alternate phrases and topical word lists with definitions.

There are pronunciation tables for Classical and Late Latin, a tiny bit of grammar, and suggestions for classroom activities. In the back of the book there is a page on the special problem of "yes" and "no," a numbers table, six pages of proverbs and sayings, and three pages of computer terms. Finally, the topical vocabularies from the chapters are collected into one general vocabulary of 137 pages.

There is also a CD for this book but I have not heard it. An umimpressed reviewer at Amazon suggested,

If you want to hear Latin pronounced in a more authentic fashion, listen to Wilfri(e)d Stroh, Miraglia, or the actor who plays the grown up Quintus talking to King Cogidubnus in the Cambridge Latin Course DVD II.

The third is the Lingua Latin (Per Se Illustrata) series from Hans Orberg, These are beginners' books written entirely in Latin, the text as dialog and narrative. Two great things about these books. First, the subject matter is daily Roman life, most helpful if one is studying for the National Latin Exam. Second, it may be used as a complete Latin course (which I would not recommend without an experienced Latin teacher) or as supplemental reading for your regular Latin lessons.

Ethno-nationalism, in spite of the myths pouring out of the academic presses, is a rejection of the gnostic-Enlightenment view of man, morality and epistemology. Unless one understands this negative connection, one cannot understand the historical and moral basis of nationalism (properly considered) and the ethno-community. Therefore, it is absolutely central that the work of Johann Herder be dealt with, for, in many respects, the revolt against Enlightenment "liberalism" and "practical" conservatism comes from him rather than from Burke, whose theoretical prowess has been overestimated in many respects.

For the Enlightenment, the notion of "progress" has been an allegedly continuous move from "myth" to "fact;" myth is the sensuous and concrete aestheticization of nature and mankind into something socially recognizable and intelligible. It is found in religious processions, harvest festivals, circular dancing and other signs of solidarity, and a solidarity imposed on a nature now no longer harsh and dangerous. Progress has its esoteric side of being the "demystification" or "unmasking" of such concrete realities into the abstractions of modern scientific and moral ideology. For Herder, this is a regress. Modern scientific methodology has eliminated the concrete object in favor of a sterile concept. The older idea of myth was not falsehood in any sense, but is a key to the heart and mind of a specific people and civilization. To aestheticize nature is to imprint the "general will" upon it, to provide it with cultural reality by integrating it into the vortex of the nation, and hence satisfying the nature need for aesthetics, but an aesthetic of populism and tradition. The nation, then, based on language and the memory of a common tradition and suffering, seeks to unify all things to itself: nature, technics and economics. These are provided with the imprint of the historical memory of a people. Nothing is strange, everything becomes recognizable, everything is made a home, the Voegelinite “cosmion.”

Two things in the article need emphasizing for today's conservatives and young nationalists. First, the state is not the nation, and a nation is not merely a collection of people who happen to be living in the same location. "If culture is strong and vibrant, passed down from the church and family unit, then the arm of the state is unnecessary."

Second, an attack on a nation's myths, fables, legends, and traditions is an attack on the nation itself. "Tradition, self, ideas and language are basically one and the same concept; complex to be sure, but related in such a way as to make their arbitrary analytic separation impossible or unintelligible. ... Only when the culture breaks down through alien peoples and ideas (including the state) does this connection become severed, and the most horrid of situations, alienation, becomes a social reality, leading to social pathology and ultimately, social death."

Our problems today are cultural and spiritual. We will change very little through politics for the simple reason that politicians in a democracy must represent the will of the people and the people have become too lazy, stupid, and corrupt. Change must come at the local, community, grass-roots level. Self, Gods, and families first, then communities, then nations, working outward in our sphere of influence.

Each of us must assume more responsibility for ourselves and our families. We must build the next generation of solid leaders for our families, clans, and our nation. We must start here, start today. Homeschool now, ask me how.

Nota bene: When beginning your research of Herder's works, go straight to the originals or the translations. The wikipedia and stanford encyclopedia-type summaries are so hostile to him, and so inaccurate, one who has actually read and understood Herder would barely recognize him in them.

The "Global New Deal"

Patrick McGroarty, AP, reports that EU leaders are openly and boldly calling for global government:

European leaders also backed Merkel's call for a "charter of sustainable economic activity" that would subject all financial market activities around the globe to regulation, including credit rating agencies.

They admit their culpability in the current mess, and now demand absolute power to "fix" it:

"Europe will own up to its responsibility in the world," Merkel told reporters following the talks.

Merkel's proposal envisions giving increased powers to the IMF, which the leaders agreed needed to receive double its current funding in order to help members respond "swiftly and flexibly" to a crisis.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called for a "global New Deal" to be adopted to help right the world economy, saying international financial institutions need some $500 billion to do the job.

There will be nowhere to hide from their arbitrary and representative-less regulation, taxation, and punishment:

Other key points agreed to Sunday included adopting a "sanctions mechanism" to penalize tax havens and urging banks to keep larger reserves of capital.

"A new system of regulation without sanctions would not have any meaning," said Sarkozy.

He said European countries should jointly draw up a list of tax havens, as well as sanctions they might face for continuing reckless financial activity.

The EU Lords desire control over America's markets as well:

Merkel also warned the United States to avoid protectionism in its automobile market.

"When I look at the restructuring plans of some American companies, there are a lot of state funds flowing into them," Merkel said, swiftly adding that "this is not an accusation."

She said the European Commission would be asked to examine whether the U.S. was violating global trade laws.

The Obamanation did not appear antagonistic to the proposal:

In Washington, the Obama administration did not comment specifically on the measures being advanced by Europe but said the United States was ready to work with other countries to improve financial market regulation.

"We look forward to continuing to work through the G-20 process with our colleagues in Europe and the world to put in place sound regulatory regimes so such a financial crisis does not occur again," said U.S. Treasury Department spokeswoman Heather Wong.

Advice to Iceland

One of the ways the banksters are conquering the trusting goyish world, using the United States as their golem, is through the imposition of massive debt via deceit and manipulation.

Make countries like Iceland feel guilty about being debtors rather than recognizing they have been victims of an international Ponzi scheme. In a nutshell, the game is to lay down “laws” for debtors in the form of destructive austerity programs fashioned by irresponsible and indeed, parasitic creditors. This “aid advice” ends in outright asset stripping, both public and private.

The product they are selling is debt. But be prepared: the mainstream media in the West, which is completely Jewish controlled, will howl and demonize Icelanders just as they did White South Africans. But don't be fooled like our brothers in S.A. Most Americans will not really care, most will sympathize because they have also been fleeced by the same tribe. Just prepare yourself for the huge media attack and recognize who the real enemy is. Have your counter-arguments ready and speak them with conviction. Ignore all the Freudian guilt trips, Marxist hatred, and financial razz-ma-tazz, and you'll survive just fine. Either that, or risk losing your entire country.

Here is Michael Hudson's good, albeit long-winded, explanation of and justification for my thoughful, caring and extremely sound advice. Solon "the Law Giver" did a similar thing in ancient Greece, when the debts became too much for the average man to bear. I'm sure several good examples could be found in all European times of throwing off the foreign yoke in this way, if the records were available.

Movie Review: Katyn

Here Robert Faurisson explains exactly what is wrong with Mark Weber's "confession" and what is wrong with Mark Weber as the head of a serious historical revisionism organization. After supplying us with very full and complete information about Mr. Weber's years of half-hearted service and evasive answers, Mr. Faurisson writes:

Seven Lean Years

The usual explanations refer to bankers being stupid. They did not know what they were doing when they flooded the markets with their cheap credit, or sold swaps or marketed derivatives. Alternatively, it is argued that they were so greedy that did not understand their long-term interests and ruined everything. But the bankers and the financial elite are not stupid, neither are they short-sighted. I believe that things happen because people intend them to happen, unless there are very strong proofs to the contrary. I believe that unless we do something pretty drastic, they will emerge out of this crisis even more rich, more powerful and in fuller control of our lives.

A similar development took place in ancient Egypt, we are told. There were some years of prosperity, and the clever guys hoarded the stuff; afterwards, some years of scarcity duly followed, and the ordinary folk ended up being indebted and enslaved to the clever guys.

You probably recognise this as the story of Joseph and the Pharaoh (Genesis 41). The Pharaoh had a dream of seven nice fat cows coming out of the Nile and feeding in a meadow. And suddenly, seven other, ugly and lean cows came up after them out of the river. “And the ugly lean kine did eat up the seven nice fat kine”, saith the Writ. So Pharaoh awoke and asked for Joseph’s advice; and he advised him to hoard the harvests up until the days of scarcity, when the collected harvests could be used – not just to feed the people, but to enslave the people. And so it worked: all the people of Egypt became slaves of the Pharaoh, thanks to the clever advice of Joseph. For this reason, the people of Egypt bore a serious grudge against Joseph and his tribe of financial advisers.

History is always repeating itself. Latter-day financial advisers have used the archetypal model of Joseph in the Bible, but they went it one better: Instead of enjoying prosperity and being prepared for scarcity, they orchestrated both. First, they opened the gates of credit and got a lot of people hooked. Afterwards, they shut the gates and ushered in their Armageddon weapon, the seven lean kine. The bottom line remains the same as of old: they intend to enslave America and the world. ...

At Stage Two, they fleeced the ordinary Americans who had been quite happy to participate in the grand larceny of Stage One. Their bankruptcy does not hurt them a tiny wee bit. You do not have to be a Jew to use Jewish tactics, and the American bankers – Jewish and non-Jewish alike - took a leaf from traditional Jewish scam book and applied it on an unheard-off scale. And among these scams, bankruptcy was one of the most popular. Enron was a first try; the idea was a very successful one: you take a public commodity and steal it; eventually people will have to buy you out.

If their plan is completed, the ordinary people of the US will find themselves deep in debt, while the profits will go to a happy few. But I do not understand and there is no wise man available to ask these deeper questions. I am unable to contact CWNY. All the preachers I know around here have imbibed the multiculti Kool-Aid. Books, bulletin boards, forums, blogs, and email are no help -- ever more reading and self-study brings yet more questions and does not tame doubt.

We are the awakened ones, in the philosophical desert, seeking our lost tribe of traditional Europeans. We reach out and there is nothing there. Society and civilization have not changed, they have ceased to exist. No oasis in sight, only political mirages. The intellectual, equalitarian, life-long American Hater and total faggot is upset at how fouled-up the country has become. He's bewildered that the multiculti experiment has not yet succeeded. He says that Barack the Magic Negro hasn't fixed everything despite being "twice the intellectual that Jack [Kennedy] was" because Barack is too nice, "too delicate." He's mad at the Republicans and conservatives for resisting the Marxist takeover.

Gore Vidal may be intelligent but he doesn't seem very smart. As one who believes that all people are innately good and equal (a quintessential liberal), he believes that, "The US is only menaced ... because it menaces others." He seems unable to make any important distinctions among people at all. Besides his belief that all people are equal, he says no one is hetero or homo -- the distinction is completely made-up, a total fiction, a "social construct," ut dicant.

He loves populism and has romantic ideas about the Republic, but hates the Founders and real American people. He is always lamenting the loss of the dear Republic yet his leftism and internationalism has undermined it at every turn. As far as any normal person can tell, he's a complete nutjob.

He remembers the "President-erect," Jack Kennedy:

Ah, happy days.
